Midnight purple too. Replacement engines aren’t all that expensiven from Japan at least.

If it was legit, the seller would have no problem posting a pic of the tag in the door jamb of all federally legal r33 GTR’s.

I spent alot of time on Skyline owners USA. The guys there that had legit R33s explained the entire process. Along with the tag, of course blurring out the parts that could lead to their house.

I seriously doubt that’s a legit R33. Cracked head or whatever, someone is trying to get their car sold before it gets yanked by ICE and sadly crushed.

I find this funny.

This car is absolutely a federally legal example. I know this car specifically, and it is even CA registered. Definitely a fully legal car.

I have a friend who sold his Motorex R33 a couple months ago, with no picture of said tag. He had a serious buyer contact him and went over all the paperwork in person with him.

And if you’re still dubious, call the NHTSA and ask them if they have a bond release on file for that VIN. Easiest way to check.

Also, the idea of cars getting crushed is 95% bullshit propaganda by 25 year importers to increase sales.

Cars were taken from the SOUSA guys, 2 were crushed. The rest of the iffy imported ones were told to export them.

This was in 2009-2010 way before legalskylines. plusthe r33 still is technically illegal unless previously conformed to standard.

That’s straight up inaccurate. Yes, a FEW cars were taken. A couple state titled cars, and the rest were Kaizo cars.

Also, Motorex came and went WAAAAY before 2009/2010, leaving 14 legal R34GTRs, around 100 legal R33s, and around 80 legal R32s

Not bad though. I’m sure you could source another RB26 for ~$5k, so you’d have a nice, US legal R33 for ~$40k. If I only had the money....

You can generally get one with engine+transmission for $4500, maybe less

Really? Huh. It’s been a while since I’ve looked at them so, I guess prices have gone down a bit. Nice.

Yep! R34 RB26/V160 combos go for a LOT more though.

Excellent. My dad’s old 240Z is rusting away at my grandmother’s house and my brother and I have been trying to see if it’s worth restoring or not. If we do, we’re gonna do an RB26 swap, so now I know where to look, hahaha!

Keep in mind you’d have to use a different transmission than the RB26 one (Because AWD)

Yea, lol. I’ve already looked up guides done by others who have swapped the RB into Z cars. Most people use an RB25 trans., so I’d probably go that route too.

Or I could just get really crazy and make an AWD Z car hahaha!!!!

Oh my god. I’d kill for a shot of the VIN plate with LP2 stamped on it. I’ve seen it once before on a 300ZX, made me weak.

Something like 0.02% of 300ZXs sold in the US have that. I’m not in the US but it’s the only figure I could get - the point is they’re crazy rare.

The thing about LP2 that I learned with this R33 is it ONLY looks good if it’s really well detailed. If not, it just doesn’t shine like it should.

It’s funny like that, it’s so damn dark. I think you can always get it looking good if you have enough sunshine, but you’re right it really helps if it’s in good condition.

This guy is selling his newest build. Slicktop in green on those same wheels, used to have an SR20 swap in it. Being sold as an absurdly clean shell for $4000.

I’ve seen photos of that one before I think. It’s just amazing. Makes you wonder how people don’t buy more cars in that color.

There’s a guy in Australia who had a ridiculously good paint job done. I don’t think it was always LP2 though.
